Simms was born in Christopher David Simms, Ridgewood, on August 29, 1980. Simms attended Ramapo High School in Franklin Lakes, New Jersey, where he excelled in basketball and soccer.

He also attended college there. His father, Phil Simms, retired as well after playing his entire career for the New York Giants. Diana Simms’ mother is Chris.

There are two siblings: Matthew and Deirdre. Matthew, his younger brother, is a quarterback for the Atlanta Falcons.

While playing for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2003–2007), Tennessee Titans (2008), Denver Broncos (2009), and Tennessee Buccaneers (2010), he won various honors and prizes.

In a similar vein, the New England Patriots offered him a terrific opportunity to work as a coaching assistant on March 26, 2012. The quality control offense came first, followed by the compilation of the scouting report.
