ISP trooper James Bailey lost his life on Friday, March 3, 2023, while attempting to stop a fast-moving car. He was fifty years of age. According to Indiana State Police, at about 4:30 pm on Friday, Trooper James was aiding other troopers in resolving traffic bottlenecks brought on by weather-related accidents close to the 326-mile marker south of Auburn.
Bailey then saw a guy fleeing a Fort Wayne Police Department officer while speeding along Interstate 69. He attempted to halt the automobile pursuit by using stop sticks.
The suspect car then struck Bailey from behind. The trooper suffered severe injuries. He was sent to a neighborhood hospital. However, as soon as he arrived at the hospital, medical staff declared him dead. His wounds caused his death. The State Police Superintendent expressed his sorrow and pledged their support for Bailey’s family, friends, and loved ones.

James Bailey’s attacker has been taken into custody. Terry Dewaine Sands II is the named suspect. He is said to be 42 years old as of 20 and from Marion, Indiana. The accused offender’s identity has not been withheld from the public for security reasons.
