The SITG issued charges of murder, theft, and obstruction of justice against the accused in the Yvonette Chua Plaza homicide case.
Durante commanded the Presidential Security Group (PSG) under the preceding president, Rodrigo Duterte.
Although Durante denied any involvement in the murder, he said Plaza was a friend and even felt sympathy for her family.
Private Class Delfin Sialsa, Staff Sergeant Gilbert Plaza, Corporal Adrian Cachero, Corporal Romart Longakit, Corporal Rolly Cabal, and Noel Hapitan were the names of the individuals.
The Davao City Office of the City Prosecutor made the allegations against the Army personnel, according to the specific investigative task group.
Durante and Licyayo are charged with murder and accused of hindering justice. Sialsa and Cachero are charged with the victim’s murder and the theft of their belongings.
Cabal and Hapitan were both accused of being accomplices in murder
Another suspect who cannot be identified was charged with obstructing justice, and a third suspect who cannot be named was charged with aiding and abetting murder.
A social media post by the alleged victim in which she alleges he physically attacked her is another piece of evidence against Durante.
Gultiano claims that Licyayo reportedly provided the logistical information needed to carry out the murder.
Cachero and Sialsa were the motorcycle’s riders, according to Gultiano. Cabal and Longakit kept an eye on Gilbert Plaza, the alleged squad leader.
Plaza was tragically murdered on December 29 in front of her Davao home. Durante was first considered to be a suspect in the investigation.
An Army Official Disavows Any Role In the Davao Model’s Murder
Yvonette “Yvonne” Chua Plaza was a model-turned-businesswoman. A general in the Philippine Army, whose name has been connected to the murder, has come out to deny any involvement in it and assert that he, too, was seeking justice for the loss of the person he considered his friend.
Brig. Gen. Jesus Durante III, a former director of the Presidential Security Group (PSG) under former President Rodrigo Duterte, highlighted how saddened he was by Plaza’s loss. On December 29, two guys on motorcycles shot and murdered Plaza in a district of this city.
He explained that Plaza’s death had drawn attention to him because of a social media post she made in April 2022 that featured bruises and cuts on her face and named him as the person who caused them. Durante is currently in charge of the 1001st Brigade of the Army and is based in the province of Davao de Oro.
