He has held the position of Chief Minister of Sindh for the longest period—eight years overall—during his most recent two terms. Qaim served as the PPP’s president for Sindh (Khairpur-1) and was elected to the Provincial Assembly (MPA) from PS-220.
He is said to have died on March 5, 2023, according to Wikipedia, although no trustworthy source has confirmed this as of yet. Shah started politics in the 1960s when he was elected to lead the district council in Khairpur during the Basic Democracies era of Field Marshal Ayub Khan. Due to his strong friendship with Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, he joined the PPP not long after it was established in 1967.

Syed Qaim Ali Shah was born to Syed Ramzan Ali Shah Jillani in Khairpur Mirs on September 13, 1933. Shah’s family was one of Khayrpur state’s most illustrious and educated families.
After Shah concluded his early education at Naz High School, his family married the young Shah to a family member. Shah kept going to Karachi to finish his education. Shah enrolled at Karachi University, where he eventually earned an arts degree. He then obtained a Bachelor of Law from S. M. Law College. While a student at Sindh Muslim Law College, Shah benefited from Zulfikar Ali Bhutto’s company and guidance, developing a bond that would continue for the remainder of his professor’s life.
