His dead corpse was recovered in a neighboring pond on Tuesday, December 27, after being buried in the frigid water for four days.Payan is believed to have died before his absence was reported, according to local officials.

Dr. Bolek Payan’s family flew to Jackson County to spend the holidays with him. When they arrived, however, all they discovered was his vehicle sitting in the driveway, with no trace of him anywhere. Dr. Bolek Payan earned his medical degree from Midwestern University Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2017 and will begin his residency at Henry Ford Health in 2020. He became a board-certified psychiatric doctor at Henry Ford Health after finishing his internship.
