A 47-year-old man has been accused in relation to the deaths of his wife and another lady who died in a boat accident south of Perth.
The boat’s skipper has been charged with two charges of manslaughter after it is claimed that he was in charge when it struck a navigational sign in the Mandurah estuary, killing the two women on board.
Burdon appeared in Mandurah Magistrates Court on Monday in the afternoon and was granted bail. He was on crutches and receiving medical attention for the injuries he sustained in the boat disaster throughout the brief hearing.

A boat carrying four persons crashed into a red channel marker in the Mandurah Estuary on the evening of January 21. Kylie Bazzo, 52, Rhett Bazzo’s mother, and Debbie Burdon, 54, perished in the collision.
Following the boat catastrophe, the neighborhood showed its support for the families of the women who died, and there was a large outpouring of sympathy.
Ms. Bazzo was revered as a trailblazer for female football players. The body of Ms. Bazzo was found by water police in the estuary the following evening.

A guy has been charged with causing a boat accident that claimed the lives of his wife and the athlete’s mother.
Police have charged John Phillip Burdon with two charges of manslaughter in relation to the incident on January 23, when a boat he is believed to have been onboard crashed with a red channel marker on the Mandurah Estuary, WA.
Mr. Burdon, 47, appeared in Mandurah Magistrates Court on Monday while needing a crutch to support himself as he heals from injuries received in the crash.
Although they did not oppose to bail, the police acknowledged in court that Mr. Burdon had been found guilty of drunk driving in 2019.

John Phillip Burdon was ordered to surrender his passport and is now due to appear in Stirling Gardens Magistrates Court on February 22 after being freed on a $100,000 surety and $100,000 personal undertaking.
The husband of Ms. Burdon, John Burdon, is accused of killing her on two separate occasions. The boat accident also caused injuries to John Burdon.
Following a brief court appearance in Mandurah, the 47-year-old, who is thought to be the boat’s skipper, was given bail.
The prosecution revealed that Burdon had been convicted of drunk driving in 2019 as part of their request that Burdon be subject to many conditions, including that he doesn’t leave the state.

After she passed away, the West Coast Eagles released a statement in which they expressed their grief at her loss. She was praised for being a “top-shelf mother” and raising her two children “brilliantly.”

The Mandurah Netball Association sent their “sincere condolences” to the two Bazzo children. According to the association, Kameron played for MNA for many years while Kylie always supported him on the sidelines.
