The decision not to file charges in the death of a nine-month-old child who choked on food at a childcare facility was being appealed, according to the child’s parents.
Oliver Steeper experienced respiratory problems while eating in September 2021 while getting care at Jelly Beans Day Nursery in Ashford. Oliver had to be sent to the hospital. He died six days later.
A police investigation into the circumstances of the incident was launched in the weeks that followed.
KentOnline was nevertheless advised by Kent Police that the case had been closed and the investigation was completed.
A representative for the police said: “After a thorough investigation, no further action is to be taken, and the investigation has been filed if new information becomes available. A report will be given to the coroner. Let’s learn more about the death case involving Oliver Steeper.

Regarding the Oliver Steeper Death Case, the parents of a baby who passed away in a nursery after choking on food filed an appeal after criminal charges were withdrawn.
Oliver Steeper went suddenly into hospital in September 2021, several days following the medical event at Jelly Beans Day Nursery in Ashford, Kent.
His parents claimed that despite being “hugely unhappy” by choice, they were “far from discouraged.”
They admitted that they had filed an appeal with the CPS.
