Mika Zibanejad joined the Ottawa Senators on July 13, 2011, when he signed a three-year entry-level contract. The Ottawa Senators are a Canadian professional ice hockey club headquartered in Ottawa.

Mika Zibanejad was drafted sixth overall by the Ottawa Senators in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. Zibanejad made his debut with the Senators in the opening game of the 2011-12 campaign.
