Geethali Norah Jones Shankar was given to Norah Jones as her complete name at birth. She was born in Manhattan, New York City.
Sue Jones, an American concert organizer, and Ravi Shankar, a well-known Indian Bengali musician, were Norah Jones’ parents.
Their marriage did, however, end in divorce in 1986. Jones grew raised in Grapevine, Texas, living with her mother when the couple separated.
Jones’s love for music was first sparked when she was a little girl, and she started singing at church.
She also took voice and piano classes to get her official skills. Before going to Dallas’s Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, Jones attended Colleyville Middle School and Grapevine High School.
