From 2015 until 2023, she represented the Tampines East neighborhood in the Tampines Group Representation Constituency (GRC) as a Member of Parliament (MP).

Cheng Li Hui Illness: What Happened?

Secretary-General of the PAP and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong acknowledged that they had been in a love relationship since at least 2020.
In response to their letters of resignation, Lee said that the PAP’s long-standing norms of propriety and personal conduct had led to the decision to consider their resignations “necessary.”
Their respective parliamentary seats in Tampines GRC and Marine Parade GRC were vacant as a result of their engagement.
The remaining MPs in each of the two GRCs will split the duties of Tan’s Kembangan-Chai Chee division in Marine Parade GRC and Cheng’s Tampines East division in Tampines GRC.
