Alex Ferguson’s Religious Beliefs: Is He a Christian?

When it came to Alex Ferguson, he was a religious protester. Ferguson, a Protestant who married a Catholic, speaks out against Protestant discrimination in his hometown of Glasgow on a regular basis. Alex Ferguson’s wife has revealed how sectarianism in Glasgow nearly destroyed their marriage.

Cathy has explained how the marriage overcame religious difficulties between her Catholic family and Alex’s Protestant parents during the week when Ferguson is executing the greatest takeover in football history. If the pair had married in a church 30 years ago, it would have been problematic unless one of them converted.

She claimed that their families were pressuring one of them to convert to another religion so that they could marry in a church, but neither of them would budge. Instead, Alex and Cathy chose a simple ceremony at the Martha Street registration office in Glasgow. Alex played a key role in Manchester United’s £625 million purchase of BSkyB.

She claims she is no longer concerned by the fact that she was denied a church ceremony due to their differing religious beliefs. Alex’s wedding difficulties were simply expressions of the spiritual upheaval that had dominated his entire life.
