Allen Lazard’s parents are both teachers, and he has learned a great deal from them in both academics and sports.
His father works as a financial advisor and is a high school coach, and his mother is a teacher. Allen Jamel Lazard was born on December 11, 1995, in Des Moines, Iowa. He plays wide receiver for the New York Jets in the National Football League (NFL). Lazard was a four-year starter on both offense and defense at Urbandale High School.
Before enrolling at Iowa State, Lazard competed in the 2014 US Army All-American Bowl. The Iowa native was a highly-ranked talent coming out of high school. Rivals graded him as Iowa’s top recruit and the seventh-best receiver in the country. He played at Iowa State and was named First-Team All-Big 12 in both 2016 and 2017.
He also holds the Iowa State record for most receptions and receiving yards. He signed as an undrafted free agent with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2018 but was later released. The wide receiver then spent four seasons with the Green Bay Packers (2018-2022) before joining the New York Jets.

Allen Lazard, the son of Kevin and Mary Lazard, was born into the Lazard family. The player’s father and mother married on September 22, 1996. Their two children had already been born when the couple married. Allen followed in the footsteps of his father, Kevin Lazard, who was a well-known football player at the time.
Kevin Lazard graduated from Bellflower High School in 1989 after attending there from 1985 to 1989. He attended Iowa State University from 1989 to 1994 and obtained a BA in MIS (Management of Information). From 1989 to 1993, he played collegiate football there.
Between 2006 and 2009, Kevin received his MBA in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. He is now working as a personal financial representative for Primerica. Beginning in April 2013, he worked as a system analyst II at Iowa State University. Kevin also briefly worked as a development analyst at Xpanxion.
From June 2006 to January 2013, he worked as a system analyst for Principal Financial Group before joining Primerica and Iowa State University. He used his athletic ability as a varsity assistant coach at Urbandale High School from July 2008 to February 2012.

Mary Lazard got a Bachelor of Science (BS) in elementary education from 1988 to 1992. She has worked with West Marshall CSD since August 2016. From August 2013 to July 2016, she worked as a teacher for Des Moines Public Schools. Mary served as a Production Assimilation Coordinator at the Lutheran Church of Hope from 2007 to 2013.
She served as the facilities manager and class planner at SportsPlex West from 2005 until 2007. From August 2003 to August 2005, she worked as a site supervisor for Youth & Shelter Services. From August 2000 to August 2003, she served as a site coordinator at Marshalltown Community Schools.
Meet Allen Lazard Brother Anthony Lazard
Allen’s brother, Anthony, was born on May 3, 1994, and is also a former football player. The two brothers are around one year apart in age. Anthony graduated from the University of Iowa with a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and Health in 2016. He has been the Applied Sport Science Coordinator and Assistant Director for Football Sports Performance at Stanford University since January 2023.
Anthony worked as a Strength and Conditioning Intern at Iowa State University in 2016 and Colorado State University in 2017. He began his career as a graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach at Central Methodist College in Missouri in 2018.
