Without a doubt, the most beloved couple in the community were Austin Butler and Vanessa Hudgens. But things shifted to the point where, on January 14, 2019, they called it quits.
The breakup was unexpected given that Disney starlet Vanessa and her boyfriend Austin dated for nine years.

On the Disney Channel set of High School Musical, Hudgens and Butler first met through their common friend Ashley Tisdale.

September 2011, AD: Accusations Regarding Hudgens and Butler’s Romance Started
When Butler was seen leaving her home in September 2011, a little over a year after her split from Zac Efron, rumors started to circulate that Hudgens and Butler were dating.
A few days later, at Bob’s Big Boy in Los Angeles, the couple gave a passionate explanation of their relationship, despite the close source maintaining that it was “just friendship.”
Their connection was described by the scene’s witnesses as a lighthearted yet passionate affair. What they said is as follows.
They were in a big group, but they were together. While they were undoubtedly hanging out and having fun, they were not acting in a way that suggested they were truly in a romantic relationship.
September 2012: A Kiss was Noticed Between Them
When Vanessa and Butler were seen kissing at Madison Square Garden in December 2012, their romance seemed to be progressing.
They were seen together for supper at an Italian restaurant in Venice in September before that.
December 6, 2013: Vanessa Included Her Suspected Boyfriend in Her Instagram Post
Although photographers were the first ones to photograph them together, the 31-year-old posted the first photo of her and Butler on Instagram in December of 2013.
Another picture that followed provided more context for their passion.
August 18, 2014: In a “Happy Birthday” post, Hudgens claimed that her Butler was her boyfriend.
Years after they first started dating, in August, Hudgens revealed her connection with Butler on his birthday.
She wrote, “The love of my life turned 18 years old yesterday.” “Happy birthday to the most handsome man I’ve ever seen, the most amazing talent, and the sweetest heart. He never ceases to inspire me in all facets of life and consistently elevates others in his vicinity. I give God so much thanks for sending Austin Butler into the world 23 years ago.
Despite having already appeared in Hudgens’ Instagram photo, Butler chose to repay the favor on August 22, 2015, a year later.

31 August 2015: Austin Butler Openly Disclosed His Relationship With Vanessa
Butler first discussed his relationship with his girlfriend Vanessa in 2015 at the MTV Music Video Awards.
Speaking openly to ET Online about his relationship with Hudgens, he stated,
“It’s crucial to prioritize the other person. If you’re always trying to find ways to make them happy and they’re always trying to find ways to make you happy, you kind of lift each other up as much as possible and you can’t go wrong.”
The rumors of Vanessa and Austin’s engagement began on December 16, 2017, when Vanessa shared an Instagram picture of herself with a diamond ring finger. The actress quickly responded, stating that she was “not engaged,” though.
Vanessa, however, clarified the allegations on Twitter on December 19, writing,
Guys, guys, guys. I’m not in a relationship! I uploaded a picture. Not to flaunt my hairstyle, lol, but rather my ring that I inadvertently threw on that finger after a hard day of filming.
High school musical star Hudgens announced on March 29, 2018, that she will not be getting married anytime soon.
On March 29, 2018, Hudgens clarified the rumors of her engagement once more, stating that she was not in a haste to be hitched or get engaged.
During one of her chats with ETOnline, she addressed the rumors. This is what she said:
No, since we wouldn’t have lasted nearly seven years together if I felt pressure in a relationship.
She responded with a rather vague statement when asked if he intended to wed Butler. Says she
“Every couple has a unique journey.”
January 14, 2020: Austin and Vanessa’s separation
Unexpectedly, on January 14, 2020, a close source for the couple revealed to US Weekly that they had broken up, some nine years after they had started dating.
The pair has not yet responded to the reports. They were last spotted together at the UNICEF Summer Gala in Italy in August, which was months ago.
