In November 2023, the Aggies fired Jimbo Fisher, and Mike Elko was named head coach. Elko has a six-year agreement worth a total of $42 million, including a $7 million annual salary. There is a 75% buyout for Years 1-3 and an 80% buyout for Years 4-6 under the flat-rate percentage-based buyout conditions.
A $11,000,000 compensation pool for employees is part of the arrangement. Additionally, Elko will get $100,000 for each SEC Championship Game appearance. After Texas A&M sets up postseason incentives, Elko’s contract will automatically be extended by one year for each of them.
