Jackson played two sports at Mater Dei High School: football and track. He also tied the California state record in the 100 meters with a time of 10.25 seconds. The 20-year-old, ranked No. 4 nationally by 247 Sports, picked USC over numerous other offers. The cornerback played in seven games during his first season with the Trojans.

Domani Jackson’s Parents, Randy, and Melanie

Randy and Melanie Jackson gave birth to Domani Jackson in Santa Ana, California, United States. Interestingly, the Jacksons are originally from Youngstown, Ohio, not Southern California. Randy and Melanie, Jackson’s parents, were born and reared in Youngstown, Ohio. Randy first went to Southern California after joining the Marine Corps, then moved to State College, Pennsylvania, where Domani began his football career.

Following that, they spent four years in Hawaii before returning to Southern California. Domani’s father was stationed at Camp Pendleton when he was 12 years old, so he enrolled him in the Monarchs for Marines youth camp. Domani has an older sister, Darian Jackson, who attended Great Oak High School.

Committed to USC Trojans

Jackson chose USC over Michigan and Alabama in December 2021. The Trojans were eventually picked based on one key criterion. In an interview, Jackson stated, “Honestly, if Donte [Williams] wasn’t coming back, I would be heading to Alabama.”That’s my guy; he has been recruiting me since eighth grade, and I believe in him.”

He continued,

“He’s more than just a coach to me; he’s also a mentor with whom I can discuss anything. He’s an excellent coach, but it’s much more than that, and having him around is a big reason I chose USC.”

He then made his college debut on the road against Oregon State. Despite missing most of his senior season as a cornerback at Mater Dei High due to a knee injury sustained in the season opener, Johnson was nominated to the 2021 PrepStar Dream Team. In addition, he was named to the 2021 spring MaxPreps All-State first team and the All-Trinity League first team during his junior season.
