Louis Rees Zammit, a 22-year-old excellent rugby player who was thought to have a promising future in the sport, has decided to pursue an NFL career. Louis announced his decision on Instagram, stating that he would leave rugby to play American football on January 16, 2024.
This announcement occurred just minutes before Wales released their Six Nations Championship squad, which Louis would ordinarily be a part of. This statement stunned many people, especially his followers, teammates, and coaches. To get a spot, Louis plans to participate in the NFL International Player Pathway program.
After finishing the 10-week program, he could be eligible for the 2024 NFL Draft. However, Louis stated that the move does not necessarily signal that he is retiring from rugby, and he has no plans to return soon.

Former rugby player Louis Rees Zammit played for Gloucester in the English Premiership as well as the Welsh national team.
