Faye was first brought to the FBI’s notice more than a year ago because of his interactions with an indicted Tennessee militia member.

It had been stated that Faye wanted to carry out violent acts at the southern border. It was said that he had been planning an attack for more than eighteen months.

He informed undercover investigators in December of last year that he planned to work with militia organizations from many states to carry explosives to the border.

After Faye attempted to sell an illegal silencer to an undercover investigator, she was charged with possessing an unregistered firearm.

According to public records, Paul Faye used to operate a carpentry and remodeling business on his own.

His son claims that when the weather allowed, he ran a lawn maintenance company. In 2016, Faye attempted to apply for bankruptcy protection, but his application was denied.

He lived in a mobile home next to his ex-wife’s property until his arrest this week.

“I’m a God-family country fellow who knows right from wrong,” reads Faye’s Facebook bio.

According to his son, Paul was regularly posting on TikTok and watching and sharing videos from anti-government channels that asserted that immigrants were “storming” the country.

While the majority of Faye’s TikTok videos feature his pet raccoons, one from February 2023 features a patch that Paul referred to as “my group patch” since it features two weapons, a Spartan helmet, and the words “2nd American Militia.”

Paul Faye was the subject of one charge when it was alleged that he sold a silencer to an undercover agent. He might receive a maximum term of 10 years in prison if proven guilty.

Update on Paul Faye’s Case

Paul Faye allegedly spent more than a year and a half preparing to travel to the border and carry out violent acts against federal officials and migrants, according to a federal prosecutor.

Additionally, according to the prosecutor, Faye had aggressively encouraged others to follow suit.

Paul’s son Joseph Faye dismissed the government’s charges, describing them as baseless.

He refuted his father’s skill as a marksman, bringing up a hunting episode in which he had to shoot a deer several times before hitting it.

Joseph characterized his father as mentally ill and a habitual liar. He accused his father of being provoked by an overzealous FBI inquiry.

The federal attorney, the FBI, and Paul Faye’s public defender could not be reached for comment.

As incidents of right-wing extremism increase, the way police respond to them is coming under fire.

Republicans and conservative media sources argue that prosecuting far-right organizations like militias and Capitol riots is an excessive use of government authority.

Liberals, meanwhile, contend that the police are not doing enough to combat the threat posed by radical right-wingers.

Joseph claimed ownership of the firearms discovered in his father’s trailer. He clarified that he stores his guns and hunting weapons in Paul’s rural home, where they go target shooting and hunting.

“I hunt deer.” I hunt using rifles that I own. Joseph stated, “My dad only owns an antique shotgun that he inherited from my grandfather.”
