On July 31, 1964, Fuzz Townshend was born in Shropshire. Fuzz was raised by his mother, a former employee of a nearby newspaper firm. When he was ten years old, his mother won a Vauxhall Chevette in a national newspaper competition. He’s always been interested in music, so his mother used the award money to get him a drum set.
He is a skilled drummer who studied drumming with local jazz artist Al Reed. Because of his unusual hair, his classmates called him Fizz and he went by that moniker. At twelve years old, he made his stage debut in March 1977.
