Her illustrious career has included 20 Emmy Award nominations, two Tony Award nominations, a Golden Globe Award victory, and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Lydia Grant, a dance instructor in the musical-drama TV series “Fame” (1982-1987), was one of her most prominent roles. Allen has directed over 50 television and film productions in addition to her acting ability. In 2001, she established the Debbie Allen Dance Academy in Los Angeles, where she currently shares her skills and talents with aspiring young dancers.
