Why Do People Think Richard Burton Is Gay?

- Ian McShane’s interview
Ian McShane, an actor who worked with Burton in the 1971 UK crime movie “Villain,” talks about an event while being interviewed. In the movie, Burton played Wolfie, his gay driver guide. At one point, when their characters were about to get close, Burton told McShane that he looked like Elizabeth Taylor.
However, this scene was taken from a movie, so it doesn’t necessarily mean that Burton was gay.
- An Unauthorized Biography
Ellis Amburn wrote an unofficial history of Elizabeth Taylor called “The Most Beautiful Woman in the World.” In it, he said that Burton slept with Sir Laurence Olivier. Members of the Burton family, on the other hand, denied these claims.
- Burton Speaking on His Own
Burton also admitted to “trying” homosexuality at one point and said that most artists hid their drinking with a drink: “We cover it up with a drink.”
It’s important to keep in mind that these are just guesses and not proof. Also, we don’t know if Richard ever said out loud that he was gay or bisexual. We should always take into account what people say about their sexual tastes.
Richard’s Family About These Rumors
When sexuality claims about Richard Burton were made in an unofficial history of Elizabeth Taylor, Burton’s family was very angry. These quotes were from his brother Graham Jenkins, who said, “If Rich was a gay man, then I’m a nun” and that his brother was “the most straight man most people had ever met.”
Most importantly, keep in mind that these are just rumors and claims. Richard Burton has never come out as gay or bisexual. It is always right to respect the sexual preferences that people say they have.
