Stephen initiated his career with print media with Winston-Salem Journal and several other companies including New York Daily News, and Greensboro News and Record. In 1994, he worked as a writer for The Philadelphia Inquirer until 2007. Aside from that, he was also an NBA columnist for Philadelphia 76ers.
