Carole Cadwalladr was born in Wales on October 10, 1969. British author and investigative journalist who is known for her work with The Observer as well as The Daily Telegraph. She is best recognized for her 2018 investigative piece which exposed the Facebook – Cambridge Analytica data scandal. She gave a TED Talk in 2019 about Facebook’s role in Brexit and how the social media company is undermining democracy which she presented in front of the group she refers to as the “Gods of Silicon Valley” which include Mark Zuckerberg, Sheryl Sandberg, and Larry Page. She studied journalism at Hertford College in Oxford. She published her first novel The Family Tree in 2006 and was shortlisted for the 2006 Commonwealth Writer’s Prize. She then ventured into journalism where she published pieces on issues of technology for The Observer.
