Mika Brzezinski is a Polish-born American journalist, talk show host, author, and political analyst who was born in New York. She is an active co-host of the Morning Joe morning broadcast show. She was previously a CBS news correspondent and was known as the “Ground Zero” reporter since she was the primary reporting correspondent behind the live telecast of the September 11th attacks.
Mika is a visiting fellow at the Harvard Institute of Politics, where she is frequently seen discussing issues such as salary equality for women. Despite this, she has written three books, two of which are about her work as a journalist and one about food addiction.

Mika Brzezinski was born on May 2, 1967, in New York City, to a well-educated family, her father of Polish origin. Her father is Zbigniew Brzeziski, a former National Security Advisor and foreign policy expert, and her mother is Emilie Anna Beneová, a Swiss-born sculptor of Czech heritage.
Mika was born to loving and caring parents, her father was a teacher at Columbia University at the time, and the family eventually relocated to McLean, Virginia in late 1976 after her father was nominated by newly elected President Jimmy Carter to the job of National Security Advisor.
Mika was raised with her brother Mark, an American diplomat who is currently serving as the United States Ambassador to Poland. Mika’s second brother, Ian Brzezinski, works as a military expert. She attended the Madeira School before attending Georgetown University for two years before transferring to Williams College, where she obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in English in 1989.

Mika Brzezinski married for the first time in 1993 to a TV news reporter named James Patrick Hoffer, who now works for WABC-TV. They met while working for the television station WTIC-TV. Emilie and Carlie Hoffer, their daughters, were born. Mika and Joe separated and eventually divorced due to suspicions of an affair between them. She later got engaged to her co-host Joe in early 2017, and the couple married in Washington, D.C. in 2018.

Mika began her professional career in 1990 as a job assistant for the ABC show World News This Morning. In 1991, she relocated to Hartford, Connecticut, and began working for Fox-affiliated WTIC-TV’/’WTIC-DT.’ She started as an assignment and feature editor before being promoted to general assignment reporter.
Later that year, Mika departed Fox for the ‘CBS’-affiliated ‘WFSB-TV’/’WFSB-DT,’ where she was promoted and became a weekday morning anchor in 1995. She left her employment in 1997 to become a correspondent for CBS, where she hosted the show ‘Up to the Minute.’ During a brief hiatus from CBS in 2001, Mika joined the rival network MSNBC and began co-hosting the show HomePage.’
Mika made a comeback as a CBS News correspondent in September 2001, when she began live reporting on the fall of the South Tower. She worked for CBS as a correspondent, standby anchor, host of breaking news, and host of programs such as Sunday Morning and 60 Minutes.
Mika returned to MSNBC on January 26th, 2007, and began contributing to the show Up to the Minute as well as hosting the weekly primetime newsbreaks. She occasionally started reporting for NBC Nightly News and anchoring Weekend Today before joining and co-hosting Morning Joe with Joe Scarborough.
