Flockhart, meanwhile, was nominated for an Emmy for her role as Ally McBeal. Despite having a 22-year age difference, the two hit it off right away. Only a year later, Ford publicly proclaimed his love for the actress in an interview with Hello.
Romantic love is among the most thrilling and fulfilling sorts of love, and I think it’s achievable at any stage of life. So when I fell in love, I wasn’t surprised.
Ford had two kids with screenwriter Melissa Mathison, with whom he was going through a divorce at the time. Because of this, the pair first kept their relationship a secret before getting married in 2010.
The Long-Term Married Life of Harrison Ford
Ford and Flockhart have been wed for almost two decades and are still together. Ford had some advice to offer when asked about the secrets to a successful and long-lasting marriage because theirs has undoubtedly stood the test of time.
Just before his 10th wedding anniversary, the Indiana Jones actor opened up in an interview with Parade about some marriage strategies he had picked up along the way. The best marriage advice he ever gave was to “nod your head” instead of “talk.”
Is there still a mystery?
Complete your tasks! The actor joked that his wife gave him these responsibilities, calling them “honey do’s,” with his biting wit.
They may have remained close for the past 20 years because of their same sense of humor. In response to a question about how she and her husband, Harrison Ford, kept their marriage ablaze in 2017, Flockhart told Closer Weekly that humor was essential to their relationship.
She continued by saying that their age difference had never caused them to have issues with one another. Ford was older than her, of course, but she occasionally felt older than him and forgot how much older he was.
History of Harrison Ford’s Divorces
Before settling down with his wife, Ford had already been married and divorced twice. The actor wed Mary Marquardt, his first wife, on June 18, 1964, after they had initially met at a Wisconsin liberal arts college. They welcomed their first son, Benjamin, on September 22, 1966, and Willard, three years later. The couple declared their separation in 1979.
Ford then turned to Melissa Mathison, who is best known for writing the scripts for the 1982 film E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, after Marquardt. On the set of Apocalypse Now, the former couple got acquainted.
After being married in 1983, the couple welcomed a son named Malcolm four years later and a daughter named Georgia three years later. When the couple eventually decided to split, their divorce became official in 2004. They reportedly had a great relationship up to Mathison’s cancer death in 2015.
