Coach Jordan Peterson’s Career

Coach Jordan Peterson earned a Sports Management degree from Texas A&M in 2009. He received his master’s degree a year later. Peterson, a safety, made 81 tackles and broke up 15 passes during his time at Texas A&M. Before joining Fresno State, Jordan worked as a graduate assistant with the Aggies for two years.

Jordan became the Outside Linebackers coach at Fresno State, where he helped safety Phillip Thomas win the Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year title. Peterson coached Fresno for five seasons, guiding the Bulldogs to three consecutive bowl appearances, including the 2014 Mountain West Championship and the 2013 Mountain West Championship.

Jordan left Fresno to become the safeties coach at New Mexico. In 2019, he was promoted to defensive coordinator. He joined Kansas in 2020 and started as the safeties coach. In 2021, he was promoted to defensive analyst, which increased his responsibilities. He was elevated to Co-Defensive Coordinator at Kansas at the end of 2023, but the move did not last long.
