Martindale, according to many reports, has resigned as the Giants’ defensive coordinator. Martindale joins the Giants’ coaching staff in 2022 after four years as the Baltimore Ravens’ defensive coordinator.
Head coach Brian Daboll made his hiring feasible. Daboll has already stated publicly that he expected Martindale to remain as defensive coordinator for the 2018 season. However, conditions suddenly changed, forcing the Giants to reconsider their defensive strategy.
The Giants’ coaching staff is expected to undergo dramatic changes following a poor second season under Daboll’s direction. The team’s priority will be to recruit and appoint a new defensive coordinator who shares Daboll’s vision and goals for the coming seasons.
