Wednesday, Delilah Hamlin discussed her struggles with autoimmune and chronic conditions with her Instagram followers.
Among these illnesses include Lyme disease, Epstein-Barr virus, encephalitis, and pediatric autoimmune neuropsychiatric disorders associated with streptococcal infections (PANDAS).
The 24-year-old model said in an Instagram story that she has been dealing with health issues for several years and is now prepared to disclose them. She shared a photo of herself with an intravenous catheter in her arm.
She wrote on her Instagram story:
“I haven’t really discussed my health recently, and if you’re new here you’re probably confused, but for the past several years I’ve been discreetly battling and overcoming autoimmune/chronic sickness concerns.”
She went on:
“It has been both intellectually and physically challenging. I’ve been relatively quiet because I don’t want to be cast as a “ill” character. I know I’m going through this for a reason, and that reason is to share with you what I’ve been through and what I’ve learned.
Additionally, the model shared a statement from Joel Osteen:
“When you feel like the strain is too much, it is because you are stronger than you realize.
You will never find your own strength until you face pressure you’ve never encountered. It may be unbearable, but since God permitted it, you can endure it.'”
Previously, Delilah Hamlin overdosed on prescribed medication.
Delilah Hamlin has mentioned her health concerns in the past. Hamlin revealed in November 2021 that she had accidently overdosed after taking Benadryl and propranolol together. She also said she grew addicted on Xanax when a doctor allegedly overprescribed her an antidepressant.
She stated during a live Instagram broadcast:
“He overprescribed me a medicine that one of my friends takes in the range of 10 milligrams; he prescribed me 20 milligrams three times a day and 3 milligrams of Xanax every day.”
She went on:
“First, my body became reliant on Xanax, and second, I overdosed. I did not intend to do so. I took an excessive amount of the drug propranolol. I took Benadryl with it and ended up in the hospital for some reason.”
After Hamlin overdosed, her family decided to send her to a treatment facility in Arizona, where she showed progress but was finally “politely requested to leave” because she was classed as a “medical risk.”
Since then, Hamlin has been rehabilitating at home, and in February of last year, he celebrated six months of sobriety.
