Chris Jericho Responds To CM Punk/Ace Steel’s Lawyer
Following the 2022 backstage scandal, Stephen P. New, the attorney who defended Ace Steel and CM Punk following the AEW Brawl Out incident, engaged in a public feud with Chris Jericho on X (formerly known as Twitter). Their disagreement revolves around New’s claim that Ace Steel’s wife was the only person involved in the backstage dispute who did not sign a post-incident confidentiality agreement.
This prompted Jericho to admit that he had witnessed the events of the night in question but had not signed any Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs). New pointed to AEW’s employee handbooks, highlighting their “confidentiality provisions,” and claimed possession of one. In response, Jericho challenged New’s assertion, requesting that he substantiate the facts.
The specifics of the incident are unknown, however, sources claim that CM Punk, Ace Steel, Kenny Omega, and The Young Bucks were involved in a brutal altercation. As a result, the personnel involved were suspended, and Steel lost his job. Although data are few due to the individuals involved’s tight-lipped nature, Jericho and New’s contradictory comments reflect opposing perspectives on what occurred.
Jericho went on to highlight his own experience, adding,
“Because I observed EVERYTHING that night…including how Lucy (and her husband and closest friend) acted and what genuinely transpired…also because I was in the room the entire time, observing her and everyone else.”
