Simon Thomas, a TV host, called the NHS professionals “amazing” for delivering his daughter eight weeks early. The couple’s daughter was born on Tuesday at Stoke Mandeville hospital in Buckinghamshire, where he claimed his wife Derrina “rapidly fell sick.”
He wrote on Instagram that the crew “held our hands literally and in spirit the whole way through a very fear-filled and hectic day.”
“A long road ahead, but she’s in the best hands,” he remarked of his family.
He wrote in his post: “In life, not everything happens exactly as expected.
Then, when Derrina became seriously ill, we find ourselves abruptly welcoming into the world a very small but adorable baby girl weighing just over three pounds. “We assume we have eight weeks till our little one arrives.
Simon Thomas expressed gratitude to the hospital’s NHS neonatal team for being there for them and for being “absolutely fantastic.”
“I have a lovely, courageous wife in Derrina, a priceless son, and now a little, gorgeous girl and sister for our boy Ethan. Words cannot explain how proud and grateful I feel right now.
Although the next few weeks will be spent in the hospital, we have the best staff supporting us.
