a Teen Mom alum Josh McKee and Mackenzie McKee have separated after almost nine years of marriage. She and the ex-husband were married in August 2013; they have three kids together: Gannon, 10, Jaxie, 8, and Broncs, 5.
The reality actress shared details of her split from Josh and her interactions with Celebuzz in an Instagram post on Tuesday, saying that she wanted to add her viewpoint to the many messages and rumors that were going around. The former Teen Mom said:
“Sometimes things work, and other times they just don’t, no matter how hard you try.” I’m speaking up about Josh and I having company at last. As the father of my children, I will always have respect for him, but it is now time for me to pursue my happiness.
Former Teen Mom member Mackenzie speaks out about her divorce from her husband
On Tuesday, July 26, 2022, she spoke with Celebuzz about her nine-year marriage to Josh McKee and their subsequent divorce. The actress has always been open about her troubled marriage and relationship, and this time was no different. She thanked her ex-husband for the 12 years they had together and declared that she was “beginning afresh.”
Mackenzie acknowledged:
The former me would have written a story about how awful Josh is, what he did, and the reasons why this marriage is failing. The new me understands that despite the suffering we inflicted upon each other, we both leave this with significant wounds and that our children still adore us both. On this globe, we are all just trying to get by.
Although Mackenzie expressed her wish for Josh’s life and future to be filled with “nothing but peace and happiness,” she chose to remain silent about the circumstances of the divorce. She remarked:
We ladies won’t go until we are prepared and awake enough to notice that the coffee smells weird and that something is wrong. My wedding was that. But ever since I was a child, my marriage has been my entire existence.
Since a 2012 episode of 16 & Pregnant, fans of the Teen Mom series have followed Mackenzie and Josh’s journey and tumultuous relationship. This has continued with Teen Mom Season 3 and Teen Mom OG.
The former couple has experienced numerous ups and downs since divorcing in 2013, including several breakups. But after her mother passed away in May 2020, the couple’s problems worsened when she felt Josh wasn’t there for her. Additionally, she claimed on social media that he had cheated on her with her cousin while she was grieving. The former couple’s marriage was previously described by Mackenzie as “open,” and she admitted to having an affair for six months.
The actress voiced her relief about the split in an interview with Celebuzz, saying:
I wasn’t angry, I wasn’t depressed, and I wasn’t Sorry For Everything. I reclaimed my power as a woman who now appreciates my worth. Finally, I was so worn out that I gave up; everything that had hurt me during the preceding five years had evaporated. “I no longer care.”
Teen Mom OG’s ninth season, which premiered in late 2021, featured footage of the Teen Mom couple’s struggles with a variety of parenting conundrums. Despite being a single mother, Mackenzie claimed that she did not regret leaving her husband since she had already endured enough pain.
