Recently, Jonnie Irwin has been upfront about having lung cancer. He received the diagnosis in 2020, but it was not until later that he decided to discuss his sickness in the media.
The well-known TV host also said that A Place In The Sun’s producers fired him off the show as soon as he told them he was dying.
When he discovered he had terminal lung cancer, he alleges the producers paid him off for the remainder of the season mid-series but did not extend his contract even though they were aware he wanted to continue.
“It stung. That made me very sad. I’m quite disappointed. Now I’m even unable to watch the show,” Jonnie continued. He promised the filmmakers he would obtain letters from his oncologist certifying his fitness for duty.
Freeform Productions and Channel 4 claimed that “no stone was left unturned” in their efforts to secure insurance and enable Jonnie to remain.
While Jonnie was in Italy for the show’s production, he first noticed a problem. Driving caused a blurring of his eyesight. Doctors told him he had six months to live when he got back.
Since 2004, he has hosted A Place in the Sun, and since 2010, he has made appearances on Escape to the Country.
What’s become of Jonny Irwin? What’s He Doing?
Jonny Irwin is currently taking a break and spending time with his family, which is understandable.
The real estate specialist previously admitted to Hello Magazine that he had no idea how long he had left but was attempting to be “positive” by keeping in mind that he was “living with Cancer, not dying from it.”
The 49-year-old’s ongoing agony is due to liver problems brought on by chemotherapy. He claims to be unsure of how long he has until the lung cancer in his lung spreads to his brain.
It was difficult for him to inform his wife, who was at home caring for their children when he first learned of his predicament.
The father of three is also concerned that his small boys would forget him after he is gone. Because he knows he won’t be around for long, he also finds it difficult to enjoy himself with his family any longer.
