Selena Gomez may currently be singing “This Is Why We Can’t Have Good Things” by her best friend Taylor Swift. The 30-year-old singer and actress announced her return to a social media break during a TikTok Live session on Thursday, February 23.

“I’m going to take a break from social media since this is a bit ridiculous,” she stated with a dismissive gesture. “And I’m 30. So, I am too old for this.

But I adore you all!” she concluded with a chuckle. She closed by reaffirming her decision, “I shall see you guys sooner rather than later. “I’m simply going to take a break from everything.”

The announcement was made just one month after Selena ended her four-year Instagram hiatus and hours after she addressed Hailey Bieber and Kylie Jenner’s accusations of “bullying” on TikTok.

She initially responded on a TikTok by a newly converted Selena Gomez fan who said she is now a Selenator after hearing that the model, 26, and beauty entrepreneur, 25, are bullying her.

“I’ll be honest: I’ve never had a strong impression of Selena Gomez… I am now the largest Selentor of all time,” the new admirer wrote on her TikTok, which can be viewed here. The Rare Beauty founder was appreciative of the encouragement, as seen by his “I love you” comment beneath the post.

As a clip of the Rhode Beauty creator making a gagging motion at the mention of Taylor Swift on her previous rapper fight show Drop the Mic leaked, Selena called her out publically.

She responded on the video, which can be seen below, “Very sorry, my closest friend is and continues to be one of the finest in the game.”

In November 2022, Selena explained the significance of her friendship with the 33-year-old music icon and acknowledged that she is her “only industry friend.” “I never fit in with a cool bunch of celebrity females,” she told Rolling Stone. I remember feeling like I didn’t belong.”

As previously mentioned, Selena has been the subject of bullying rumors this week following Kylie’s Instagram Story posts that appeared to make fun of Selena for making fun of herself for over-pigmenting her eyebrows.

Shortly after the Disney alum uploaded the TikTok Stories images, in which she also referred to Bella Hadid as “beautiful,” Kylie posted a selfie with “this was an accident?” scribbled directly over her eyebrows.

Next, she uploaded a screenshot of her FaceTiming with Hailey while they were staring at each other’s eyebrows.

Fans were outraged by the posts, but Kylie argued that they were “reaching.” Selena also commented on the matter and took Kylie’s side.

“Agreed @kyliejenner All of this is useless,” she wrote. “I’m a Kylie fan!”

Although Selena appeared to put an end to the drama, fans still brought up the time Hailey posted and then deleted a TikTok video in which she, Kylie’s older sister Kendall Jenner, and singer Justine Skye mouthed the words “And I’m not saying she deserved it, but I am saying that God’s timing is always right.”

Shortly after Selena was spotted in a swimsuit by photographers, the video was produced, and people assumed it was about her. Selena took to social media earlier this month to state that she was not disturbed by the video that Hailey had posted.

It is currently unknown whether Selena is overwhelmed by her fans’ fervent defense of her, or whether she believes that Kylie and Hailey’s posts were more than a mere coincidence.
