She won the $100,000 grand prize and the title of “America’s Next Drag Superstar” on May 16, 2016. The drag queen’s life has seen several adjustments after her significant victory.

She served as the host of the HBO reality television program We’re Here, which starred Eureka O’Hara and Shangela, two former RuPaul’s Drag Race competitors.

The Drag Queen Bob Discusses Throat Surgery

In the latter part of 2021, the drag performer underwent surgery. She talked about her life following the procedure but avoided addressing the reasons behind her choice.

Bob said that she only shaved her beard if she was performing during the interview with Get Out and explained that she looked different since she had not been taking care of herself.

However, that was because she was still healing from a throat operation. She responded, “Well, not yet,” when asked how her new voice felt. Although I’m still recovering, I can speak. To be really honest, I haven’t used my voice much yet, and I’ll admit that I’m a little nervous as well.

Trixie Mattel, a fellow drag performer, noted in her blog, Unpaid Spokeswomen, that Bob’s voice had altered as a result of the procedure.

She had just had throat surgery, so instead of her typical pack-a-day gruff mumble greeting me, she was speaking in her new, wonderfully clear mezzo-soprano.

The drag queen appeared on Instagram Live while applying her makeup after she had recovered to allay people’s concerns about her new voice and to emphasize that not much had changed.

Drag Queen Bob Discusses a New Voice

Bob and co-host Monét X Change of the podcast Sibling Rivalry discussed the voice change there as well. Bob said that she felt very good about her new voice but acknowledged that it had been challenging to stop talking after surgery.

The drag queen explained that because she was unable to speak following her treatment, her two boyfriends, Ezra Michel and Jacob Ritts, could only interact with her through lip reading.

But Bob occasionally grew weary and yelled because Michel and Ritts were so terrible at it.

I attempted to speak to Jacob and Ezra a few times, but they were unable to read my lips. When I first told Jacob I loved him, he didn’t get it. So I pointed at my eye, then my heart, and finally at him.

But he just said, “U need me to bring you water or something,” Bob recalled.
The Drag Race victor eventually yelled, “I love you,” at him. They probably couldn’t read her lips because they were “that large,” Monét X Change mocked Bob.
