Filipino diplomat Albert del Rosario’s death and obituary: How Did He Pass Away?

The Department of Foreign Affairs confirmed Albert del Rosario’s death in a statement. According to the DFA statement, the 83-year-old passed away while traveling to San Francisco, California.

The former secretary of state for foreign affairs cause of death was not disclosed in the announcement.

Del Rosario, in the words of the foreign ministry, was “a steadfast supporter of safeguarding and advancing national security and promoting the rights and welfare of Filipinos.”

Enrique Manalo, the secretary of foreign affairs, paid respect to the late government official by posting on social media that Albert was “a consummate diplomat and an inspirational leader who supervised the DFA with honesty and an unyielding devotion to the public service.

The late ambassador was “a staunch advocate of protecting and advancing national security and promoting the rights and welfare of Filipinos,” the DFA said.

His most notable contribution to the country’s historic arbitral win against China on the West Philippine Sea dispute is what made him so well-known.

Del Rosario encouraged succeeding governments to continue protecting the nation’s boundaries even after he had left his post as DFA head and continued to speak out against Chinese assaults in the Philippine seas.

The statement said, “He thought that every state had an equal voice in the global community as a whole, regardless of their economic, political, or military capacities. He felt that diplomacy is an indispensable equalizer in international relations.
