Aleksandar Vukic’s parents and brother, Vladimir, moved to Sydney in the early 1990s following Yugoslavia’s chaotic breakup, even before the footballer was born. Alex’s father had to disguise himself as part of another family on an SOS plane fleeing the fighting.
The athlete’s mother and brother fled to Sydney with other ladies and children beforehand. They escaped because Yugoslavian males over 18 had to join the army. Aleksandar Vukic Parents moved to Australia to safeguard their family.
Rad was afraid of being conscripted into the battle and dying. Their family lived in Sarajevo, the conflict’s epicenter. They intended to avoid victims and involvement whenever feasible. Despite several obstacles, the family got visas and moved to a new nation.
