No, she has not been located even after a long period of time. After all these years and over $9,000 in expenses, her mother eventually made the decision to contact the mobile phone provider and cancel Ali’s phone.
“I told her the truth, ‘My daughter’s been missing for 13 years, and it’s just time,'” said Jo Ann Lowitzer. “You change when something tragic like this occurs in your life.”
She said she still gets tips via the website she made, even if the number has decreased over time. She said that it had been at least five years since she had heard from the investigators.
Jo Ann said in 2010 that while Ali had left her mobile phone behind, she had stopped using it as soon as she got off the bus. After she ultimately purchased a new phone and activated it with Ali’s number, a private investigator was able to access Ali’s Facebook and email accounts.
Neither account generated any trustworthy leads. “The hardest, the hardest thing ever,” according to Jo Ann Lowitzer, is not knowing. “The fact that she is still alive is my greatest hope.”
