Andrew Velazquez, The recent nine-game winning streak by the New York Yankees has been led. The camera turned to Velazquez’s family, who were visibly upset as they watched him and his colleagues celebrate his home run in a 7-1 blowout of the Minnesota Twins. A local Bronx lad who played for his childhood team had just hit a home run.
Few people believed that Velazquez would have such an impact on the New York Yankees, thus his relocation there was clouded with uncertainty. Few people, including Andrew’s parents, thought he would succeed with the Yankees.

Kenny and Margaret Maldonado-Velazquez welcomed their son Andrew Velazquez into the world on July 14, 1994, in The Bronx, New York. Velazquez hails from Puerto Rico.
Andrew had the desire of playing in the MLB even though few people from The Bronx achieve that goal. According to Andrew, “a lot of folks don’t necessarily make it to the major leagues.”

He played baseball in Morris Park in the East Bronx where he grew up and aspired to be like Derek Jeter.
Kenny, who was formerly a respectable player, was hired as Andrew’s coach. Switch-hitting, which Kenny insisted Andrew learn, has turned out to be an important weapon in Andrew’s armory. According to Andrew, The Athletic
“I believe it to be the wisest choice I’ve ever made. As a child, my father made me do it. I began in my junior year of high school, going to class every day, no matter what.
Kenny encouraged Andrew as he started his arduous journey to the top of Major League Baseball
According to Andrew, my dad is primarily the source of my inspiration. He pushed me all the way up since he was an excellent player in his day. It’s cliche, but I wouldn’t be here without him.
When Andrew found out he would be making his debut for his boyhood team, he decided to text rather than phone his parents.
According to Andrew, he texted them “just so I can calm down a little bit.” “I didn’t want to scream on the phone,” the speaker said.
The fact that Andrew is playing for the Yankees and realizing his ambition makes his spectacular performances all the more memorable. According to Kenny, who spoke to The New York Post, he had no doubts that Andrew would excel on the big stage:
“I wanted Major League Baseball to see my son’s abilities, particularly on defense. The biggest stage of them all is New York. It was a small “How cow” moment for him to do it here, under pressure. In the minor leagues, Andrew has made that play a dozen times. Nobody is aware of it. The world is aware that he made it here.
Andrew still lives in his parent’s home in The Bronx
After his breakout season with the Yankees, Andrew might finally leave his parent’s house. But for the time being, he still enjoys his mother’s home-cooked meals.
According to Andrew, staying here is far more convenient than staying in Manhattan. It’s also less expensive. Andrew has spent his entire life in the shadow of Yankee Stadium and is now one of its main draws.
When he plays in front of his parents and a cheering Bronx crowd, it is always an emotional experience. According to Andrew, The Athletic
Before the game, I don’t want to see my parents. I could cry. Just seeing my folks when I’m out there, I suppose. More so for them, as I know my family will be very proud of me. I spend the night with them at our Bronx home. The home-cooked meals are great. My cradle is in the Bronx.
When Velazquez spoke to The Athletic about playing in Yankee Stadium, he was a Rays player. Consider how Andrew and his family must be feeling now that he plays for the Yankees in the Yankees ballpark.
Mom of Andrew told The New York Post,
“It’s great, it’s amazing, it’s amazing.” “It’s strange. There are no additional adjectives that I can think of. I feel overpowered. Margaret has been impressed by Andrew’s commitment and clarity. Margaret remarked, “He’s into all that positive thinking.”
He has taught me so much about goal-setting and having a positive outlook. Even though Margaret has seen Andrew play a lot, she still gets anxious when he is at the bat. She said,
“I simply wait to hear the sound of the bat.”
