“It is with profound sorrow that we confirm David A. Arnold’s untimely passing as our husband, father, brother, and friend.” Today, David died peacefully at home of natural causes, as determined by his doctors.

The entertainment industry has suffered a tremendous loss with the passing of David A. Arnold. His family’s statement said that doctors confirmed he died of natural causes.

About David A. Arnold and his career

Born on March 15, 1968, Arnold attended Beachwood High School. After watching Eddie Murphy’s Delirious, he developed an interest in stand-up comedy. Arnold made his stand-up debut at the Hilarities 4th Street Theatre in Cleveland.

In 1990, he began his career as a comedian, and in 2000, he became a television writer. David has written for a variety of television series, including Meet the Browns, House of Payne, and The Rickey Smiley Show. Additionally, he created and produced the Netflix series Fuller House.

Arnold desired to follow in the footsteps of previous comedians who had adapted their acts into television programs. Although he had discussions with BET about making a comedy based on his life, the proposal was never realized.

Recently, he stated on the Renaissance Man podcast that BET advised him that he was insufficiently black and therefore unmarketable. David A. Arnold went on:

“Because of this, they informed me. This is an experience I will never forget. I was working on a show with Kevin Hart.”

His outburst videos were well-received by his admirers on social media, where he swiftly rose to prominence. Arnold stated that he continues to produce films and humorous rants like he did fifteen years ago. Moreover, he stated:

“I started raving about how difficult it is to raise adolescents with a woman who is constantly in your goddamn ear, and then this s**t took off.” And I went from having no followers on any of these sites to having over a million.”

That Girl Lay Lay is a Nickelodeon comedy series developed by Arnold. He appeared on Meet the Browns, A Series of Unfortunate People, and The Tony Rock Project, among other programs. David A. Arnold’s stand-up comedy specials Fat Ballerina and Ain’t For the Weak are available on Netflix.
