Emily Robison is an American multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and vocalist. Robison is best known as a founding member of the Dixie Chicks, a female country band that includes her sister Martie Maguire and her friend Natalie Maines.
Among other instruments, she plays banjo, dobro, guitar, lap steel, bass, mandolin, accordion, and sitar. She spent years touring bluegrass festivals and busking before joining the band. She then created a band with her sister, guitarist Robin Lynn Macy, and upright bassist Laura Lynch, but eventually changed her mind.
