Marcus Ericsson began his career by winning the series’ first race at Brands Hatch, where he finished third and took the lead on the penultimate lap. He defeated Kral by 40 points to become the final British Formula BMW Series champion at the age of 16.

Then, in the winter of 2008, he began looking for a Formula Three seat and signed a contract with the Japanese F3 team TOM’S to compete in the championship for the 2009 season.

Marcus began his career with the ART Grand Prix team before winning the Japanese F3 championship, then going on to the GP2 Asia Series for the 2009-2010 season, where he won races while making guest appearances in British F3.
