Jannis started his career with the Tampa Straight Beams. The Tampa Straight Beams drafted him out of California State College in the 44th round, 1331st overall, in the 2010 MLB draft. Jannis also made his expert debut with the Tenderfoot level Princeton Beams.

The next season, Jannis split his time between the Low-A Hudson Valley Rebels and the High-A Charlotte Stone Crabs. Following that, he joined the Lake Erie Smashers of the Free Outskirts Association, with whom he signed an agreement on April 6, 2012. After signing a contract in 2013, he joined the Bridgeport Bluefish of the Atlantic Class of Expert Baseball.

Meanwhile, on June 11, 2013, Jannis was returned to the Lake Erie Smashers of the Boondocks Association. From then on, he also played for the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs and the Long Island Ducks.
