He kicked off his professional career in youth football with Exeter City. He signed a scholarship arrangement in 2012 and quickly rose through the youth ranks after the U18 squad won the Football League Youth Alliance South West Conference in 2013–14.

After scoring 30 goals for the U18 team that season, he earned a professional deal for two years in April of 2014. For the first time, he was called up to the first team when he was chosen as a substitute for the last League Two game of the 2013–14 season.
