Tasha Ghouri, a model and dancer from Thirsk, North Yorkshire, is among the contestants traveling to the mansion in Majorca.
In her promotional video for Love Island UK 2022, the 23-year-old islander claimed to possess a superpower. She claimed she was born mute and received a cochlear implant at the age of five.
Last year, she attracted the attention of the British fashion brand ASOS by wearing earrings while receiving a cochlear implant.
For those unfamiliar with the term, the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders provide the following explanation:
“A cochlear implant is a minuscule, complex electronic device that can help a profoundly deaf or profoundly hard-of-hearing individual hear. The implant consists of an exterior component that rests behind the ear and a second portion that is surgically implanted.”
Ghouri, meanwhile, made history as the show’s first deaf participant.

The eighth season of Love Island UK will feature eleven appealing individuals who will spend the summer at the villa in Majorca. Included in the participants are:

“Superpower” of Tasha Ghouri
Tasha Ghouri disclosed in an Instagram post that she and her family learned British Sign Language (BSL) when she was young. She can also read the expressions of others.
If the outer component of her cochlear implant device is removed, she will become completely deaf but will still be able to detect vibrations and pulses.
At this point, she employs body language and lip reading. Tasha Ghouri disclosed her superpower in the opening video for Love Island UK.
She declared:
“As I prefer to put it, I possess a superpower. So, I was born deaf, and at the age of five, I received a cochlear implant, which is something very precious and intimate to me, but I’m very open about it. “I’m genuinely like, ‘This is me,’ as if I won’t change for anything.”
She described her program participation as follows:
“On a night out, you will definitely find me on the dance floor. I’ll be dancing and enjoying myself with the ladies.”
Ghouri also stated that her courting history has been a “mess,” so she is looking for someone who will accept her for who she is. Time will tell if the model discovers someone who meets all of her requirements.
Her Instagram is filled with modeling session photos and performing videos. In her ITV profile, she describes herself as “goofy and a joker” and as someone who places others before herself.
