South Korean veteran Lee Jung-Jae is rumored to be in talks with Marvel Studios about a potential project. The “news” was first published by the Twitter account Marvel Crave, which covers the comic book titan’s news across all platforms.
Daniel Richtman reported on July 19 that the Squid Game actor was in contact with Marvel Studios. Richtman is a well-known industry insider for divulging unique Marvel-related information.
Twitter users have speculated about the veracity of the reports. They have also attempted to predict the 49-year-old actor’s role.

Not for the first time have Marvel and Korean entertainment collided, and hopefully not for the last. The company’s constant innovation and expansion of its many properties ensure the acquisition of new franchises.
Lee Jung-Jae, a 49-year-old experienced actor from South Korea who has been receiving Best Actor honors for Squid Game, could be the newest member of the Marvel universe.
Obviously, there has been no official confirmation or denial of this news, but social media is buzzing with this fictitious venture.
The role that Lee Jung-Jae would play is a primary issue of discussion. Mr. Negative is frequently associated with the supervillain Martin Li. Twitter users believe that the actor in Squid Game is portraying a supervillain with a personality disorder.
In Amazing Spider-Man #1 from 2007, the antagonist is a Crime Lord/Mr. Negative on the one hand, and the kind, kind Martin Li on the other.
According to certain fans, the most recent film, Spider-Man: No Way Home, alluded to the possibility of Mr. Negative joining the MCU. Aunt May is seen volunteering at a soup kitchen called F.E.A.S.T. when Norman Osborn requests aid (Food, Emergency, and Shelter Training).
According to comic book mythology, Martin Li runs FEAST. Therefore, Marvel fans have sufficient evidence of Mr. Negative’s live-action debut.
Stephen Oyoung, who portrays Mr. Negative in the Spider-Man PlayStation games, initiated a campaign in April of this year to get Marvel to award him a live-action role as well. However, no official announcement has been made.
In addition, Marvel has a history of employing Korean actors. After weeks of rumors, Park Seo-Joon was just confirmed to appear in Captain Marvel 2; Ma Dong-seok represented Gilgamesh in The Eternals; and Claudia Kim portrayed Dr. Helen Cho in Avengers: Age of Ultron.
This rumor may be one of several that come true, and it is likely a public relations trick. It is also unknown if Mr. Negative, assuming he is real, will be included in a new series or in future Spider-Man films in the MCU that are extremely risky.
Whether or not this is accurate, it is fascinating to watch the MCU open its doors to representation. It may be some time before audiences learn whether Lee Jung-Jae will appear in a Marvel film.
