Aaron Carter, a former child star and singer, died on Saturday at the age of 34. According to TMZ, the artist was discovered dead at his home in California.
According to People, Carter’s representative declined to comment but did mention “The family and management will issue a statement shortly. Aaron Carter was the younger brother of Nick Carter of the Backstreet Boys.
Aaron rose to prominence with his self-titled first album in 1997, followed by Aaron’s Party in 2000, Oh Aaron in 2001, and Another Earthquake! in 2002.
Before going on his first solo tour in 2000, Aaron was known to have opened for the Backstreet Boys and Britney Spears. Carter’s triple-platinum record includes his popular song, “I Want Candy,” which was famously featured in an episode of Lizzie McGuire in which Hilary Duff and her pals were allowed to star in the Christmas music video for it.
Aside from music, Aaron has been on Sabrina the Teenage Witch, 7th Heaven, and in the films Fat Albert (2004), Popstar (2005), and Supercross (2005).

According to People, no cause of death for the late artist has been revealed, but a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles Police Department told The Hollywood Reporter that a suspicious death occurred at the address of his property in Lancaster but that the identification could not be confirmed at the time.
Tributes have poured in for the late performer, who was a teen star at the time. Aaron’s peers reacted to the devastating news of his death on social media, with other musicians mourning the musician’s loss.
Melanie Martin, the singer’s fiancee, issued a brief statement on the news of his death and told the Associated Press, “We are still struggling to understand this tragic truth. Your prayers and thoughts are much appreciated.”
