Logic is an American streamer, former rapper, and record producer (full name: Sir Robert Bryson Hall II). He began his musical career in 2010, and after the popularity of his mixtape Young Sinatra: Welcome to Forever in 2013, he was given a recording contract by Def Jam Recordings.
Everybody, his third album, brought Logic mainstream success. It’s first single, 1-800-273-8255, achieved international popularity and reached number three on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. Logic’s song received a lot of positive feedback, and its gritty lyrics helped spread awareness of mental illness. Sir Robert gave up rap in 2020 to focus on streaming.

In Rockville, Maryland, on January 22, 1990, Logic was born. Logic had most of his seven half-siblings’ white appearance. When he was younger, it didn’t matter, but as he got older, the opinions of others about his race started to matter more. Logic found it difficult to persuade people that he was born into extreme poverty because of the stereotype attached to the color of his skin. He explained to Complex:
“People stare at me as if to say, ‘He’s from the suburbs, he was reared wealthy, and mommy and daddy pay for everything. Man, leave this place immediately. There were guns in the house when I was growing up [in Maryland], and my brothers were out selling crack. I had to deal with social services, food stamps, welfare, and Section 8 housing while growing up. I never celebrated a birthday or Christmas.
Logic is biracial, and logic must continuously make that clear
The retiring rapper told NPR, “And then I have to explain to them, like, no, I’m black and white.” “I’m mixed-race. Just so you’re aware. But he doesn’t mind the explanations that come up all the time. He told VLADTV that he is at ease with his racial identity, so it doesn’t matter how other people perceive him.
Both of Logic’s parents battled debilitating addictions. His mother battled alcoholism, while Robert Bryson Hall, his father, was a cocaine addict. In Logic’s area, the brothers produced and sold crack cocaine. The streamer asserts that by observing his brothers make crack cocaine, he was able to accurately reproduce it.
Sometimes, Logic’s father bought crack cocaine from his sons. That circumstance didn’t seem great from the outside, but Logic saw why it made sense. He disclosed to VLADTV that his brother had a wife and an unborn child to care for. He had the option of earning minimum wage at a fast food restaurant or making a good living by selling drugs.
Although battling addiction, his father could find solace in the fact that the drugs he obtained from his sons were not tainted with potentially lethal chemicals. As stupid as it may sound, logic continued, “I’d rather sell my dad some crack than for him to go somewhere else and get shot.”
Logic has tackled the drug use in the family in his music, something his father doesn’t completely understand. He explained to Complex:
“I don’t appreciate you talking about me using crack all the time,” my father said when he contacted me. Would you mind if I injected those same medicines into my body to cope with what you had me go through without saying anything? Or would you rather that I approach it positively?”

Logic said to Complex, “My mother was a good woman. But because of her addiction, she was unable to show much of her positive side.
Logic explained, “She went through a hell of a lot of sh*t from drugs, prostitution, and all forms of sh*t. Unexpectedly, he disclosed that his mother had once attempted to strangle him to death. His account of their home is almost as frightening, if not more so:
The continual yelling, blood-curdling yelling, arguments between my mother and me, and her getting her fucking ass whooped are just a few examples of the terrible sense of living in that home. Blood occasionally covered the floor and the kitchen.
Then came the racial epithets. Why his mother would treat him and his siblings unfairly was a mystery to Logic. He said, “Here’s a woman who wants to have children with a black man, who wants to be racist to them. It’s very challenging to understand.
Early in his adolescence, Mary Jo, Logic’s godmother, adopted him into her household. He admitted to VLADTV that he thinks of Mary Jo as his mother. “Mary Jo is my mother,” he said. I don’t mean to disparage my biological mother; I’m merely referring to the lady who raised me and shaped my mindset. Although the family into which you are born is not something you can choose, the family that you surround yourself with may.
