La Vista Police Chief Bob Lausten held a press conference on April 24, 2021, to provide an update on the search for Ryan Larsen. He disclosed to the media that Ryan’s family was inconsolable and that one of his sisters had found the disappearance “really hard.” He said:
“They’re [the family] obviously, they’re quite distraught and one daughter is taking it pretty hard. You may have seen her touching Facebook posts from the other evening that included the images. Mother and other sisters were destroyed.
The moment Ryan vanished from school, the teachers called his mother and the police.
As a parent or staff member,
“I can’t think of anything more heartbreaking than having to seek for a child,” a school representative said. Authorities went into the search believing they would immediately discover Ryan Larsen.

La Vista Police Captain Jeremy Kinsey stated,
“He might very well be watching us right now, laughing at us. However, he went on to say that they were worried about Ryan’s diet and medication.
He clarified:
“We have a list of the drugs he is taking. We’ve discussed the side effects of those meds with the physicians, and it’s alarming that he needs to be taking some of them. Although it helps you deal with the various things out there, you can still survive without such medications.
A multi-agency team concentrated their search on a location that K9 unit dogs had pointed out.
Police Chief Bob Lausten said during a press conference on Monday afternoon that K9 unit-identified sites were the main focus of the search. On Walnut Creek Lake’s northeastern shore, the K9 teams had targeted specific areas.
To make it simpler for divers to access the lake’s deeper levels, authorities decreased the lake’s water level throughout Monday. Throughout the day and night, the multi-agency team conducts searches on foot, in the air, and under the water. To find Ryan, Lausten said that they are employing “anything you can think of,” such as drones, sonar, and rakes.
Ryan begged people to refrain from Disseminating
Ryan added,
“There has been some buzz on social media from these basement keyboard warriors saying, ‘We have an arrest, we found Ryan,’ which is all untrue.”
“The La Vista police department will be the source of any information about this case that is to be released.“
We’re still looking,” he said. When asked whether they are considering foul play, Lausten remained evasive. We won’t be able to figure that out until we locate Ryan, he continued. If you see Ryan, it’s best to keep your distance and dial 911 rather than call his name.
