Mario Thompson, Thompson’s father, competed in basketball, football, and track in high school and college. Alyssa’s mother, Karen, on the other hand, relocated across the nation when she was a young woman so she could play basketball.

Gisele and Alyssa were both signed by their parents to TFA (Total Futbol Academy) in 2013. The striker for Angel City FC was just nine at the time.

Alyssa Thompson Committed To Stanford University’s Cardinal
Alyssa Thompson verbally agreed to join Stanford University’s Cardinal in 2020. At the time, she was 15 years old.
She joined the 2023 NWSL Draft, though, and changed her commitment. She was chosen with the first overall choice in the draft on January 12, 2023, by Angel City FC.
Additionally, Alyssa Thompson competed for the United States under-20s, where she took home a gold medal in the CONCACAF Women’s U-20 Championship in 2022.
She participated in the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in 2022 as well.
The forward was called up to the senior squad on April 9, 2023, to replace an injured Mallory Swanson in a friendly encounter against Ireland on April 11.
