The 9-year-old Texas girl was abducted and horrifically murdered, prompting the creation of the AMBER Alert system.
She was abducted on January 13, 1996, while riding her bicycle in an Arlington, Texas, parking lot. At the time, she and her mother were visiting her grandparents.
Hagerman was alone herself and would not return to her brother’s side. She had vanished when her relatives arrived to take care of her.
Following her family’s complaints, the police were contacted by a witness who claimed to have seen the victim kick and scream as a guy got out of a black pickup truck, grabbed her off her bicycle, and forced her into his vehicle.
Four days after she was taken, on January 17, a local guy walking his dog came upon her corpse; she had been stolen four miles away.
Following the discovery of the corpse, an examination revealed that the cause of death was lacerations to the neck.
Investigators have methods for apprehending the murderer, but it takes them 27 years to succeed. It hasn’t been feasible to discover the murderer yet, but police have disclosed that they have DNA evidence in the case, which may aid in the near future.

More than 7,000 tips have been looked at by police since the year of her death, but the case remains unresolved.
“She’s just so full of life, and I miss her every day. Why, why her? I want to know.” Amber’s mother noted, “She was only a little girl,” in 2022.
Donna Williams is the mother of Amber, whose murderer is still at large. Her family has been searching for Amber’s murderer in an effort to bring her to justice.
Her mother finds it difficult to believe that her defenseless daughter was slain by a knife to the neck.
Annually, Amber Alerts honor the young lady who served as the program’s inspiration for initiating emergency alerts for child abduction.
Hopefully, the murderer of Hagerman will be apprehended and she will get justice; for 27 years, everyone has been fighting for her rights.
