What Does Amber Liu Say Regarding LGBTQ People and Gender?

Music by Amber Liu reflects her openness regarding her gender, sexual orientation, and expression of love. Around the time her mixtape Rogue Rouge was published in 2018, she spoke in an interview with Billboard.

Amber Liu talked about her sexual relationships, being androgynous, and being an ally of the LGBTQ community during a chat that covered the entirety of her mixtape as well as associated topics and ideas.

She talked about how she considered herself to be an LGBTQ community ally. She believed that each person’s sexual orientation was their own and shouldn’t be questioned by others. Although Amber Liu has never stated it out loud, she identifies as androgynous.

“Why would someone take something away from someone you love so much? I have a lot of LGBTQ friends.” She talked about the area.

She also discussed her socializing with a friend who identifies as transsexual. “One of my trans friends is so happy to be who he is now when I see him.” Seeing him go through that process is fascinating.

She repeated the statement, “Love is love,” throughout the conversation. When it came to preserving her ties with other people, that was her credo.

She went on, “Some of the most beautiful people I know are gay, and they’re some of my best friends.” All she wanted was for everyone to be their best selves.

She wore two pins in the “Three Million Years” music video, one with a rainbow peace symbol and the other with a red heart, because she was also motivated by love.

She saw it as a love anthem, and it made no difference to her who you sang it to or their sexual preference. “Love is just love,” regardless of your sexual orientation—gay, straight, bi, or whatever. Liu has never discussed her gender identity in public. That being said, she regards herself as androgynous.

She described herself as an androgynous tomboy with piercings and tattoos. But she grew up in a traditional Asian culture.

She has been the target of insults from others. “You’re a girl, why do you have tattoos? People ask,” she said.

However, she got more tattoos in response to them. She did not want to face judgment before being fully acknowledged. In a February 2019 interview with What The Kpop, she talked about how hard it was for her to explain her appearance to everyone.

She was depressed and tired of women in general and herself being expected to have a certain body image. But she was trying to feel comfortable in her own skin, with understanding and supporting people by her side.

Amber Liu Gives Love Her Everything

Liu discussed her romantic life with Billboard as well. She conceded that her dating skills were lacking.

“I’m very cautious when it comes to relationships,” Liu said. “As I admit to being picky.”

But there were good reasons for her pickiness. Liu said that she was selective because she only dated people she wanted to marry and that she had a “very all-in personality.”

The artist went so far as to acknowledge that it took her five years to move on from a past boyfriend. Despite having penned a good number of love songs, she had no defined definition for the word. “I believe that my definition of love evolves with each relationship I enter into,” she continued.

Since saying “I love you” for the first time at the age of sixteen, the meaning of the phrase has undergone numerous changes in her mind.
